Skips are large open-topped containers for loading onto a special type of lorry. Sometimes, one end of the skip is having a large door which is used for manual loading and unloading. These are generally durable and tough, which are made to resist aggressive use by builders and other tradesmen. Size-wise, such container can vary from 4.5 cubic meters to 18 cubic meters, and can withstand up to 10 tones’ worth of waste.
Skips are commonly used to take away construction or demolition waste at the construction sites, at factories producing scrap metal in large amount but also at domestic locations, for instance, during major refurbishments or DIY work. The waste is then taken to a landfill, recycled/recovered in one or the other way.
